We all know how to carve a pumpkin, right? You scoop out all of the goop inside, then carve some eyes, a nose, and a mouth, and then you’re good to go. And while the classic jack o’lantern will never go out of style, it can also get a little boring, year after year. Now that you’ve decided what you’re going to be and what you’re going to do this Halloween, the next step is to make your AWESOME pumpkins that will hang outside your house and make all of the trick-or-treaters jealous. Even if you don’t get trick-or-treaters at your house, just think of how cute your #DIYPumpkin Instagram post is going to look, am I right?
I mean, sure, decorating pumpkins isn’t as cool as making your own DIY costume, but there are actually some DIY ways to get your pumpkin to be the coolest on the street, and they are all insanely unique and easy. You could go the “basic” route this Halloween and carve a boring pumpkin, but where is the fun in that? Halloween is about going all out, and you can’t forget the pumpkins! Take a look at these unique ways to decorate a pumpkin just in time for Halloween. They’ll definitely make you stand out!
1. Cat-o-lantern
Okay, we’ve all heard of Jack-o-lanterns, but what about a cat-o-lantern?! Look how cute it is! All you need is to carve a jack-o-lantern and then add some foam ears and whiskers for a cute pumpkin.
2. Sequin Pumpkin
If you want a more ~modern~ version of a decorated pumpkin, try painting them white then adding some sequins for a super unique look.
3. Candy Corn Owl
I don’t know anyone who actually likes candy corn, so this is a perfect way to use it all on a owl pumpkin!
4. Lace Pumpkin
If you want your pumpkin to be creepy and classy, try adding a layer of lace fabric over it for a spooky but chic look!
5. Mummy Pumpkin
Okay, I get that this is supposed to be creepy but it’s kind of cute, right? Just cover a pumpkin in some gauze or toilet paper and add some googly-eyes for a little pumpkin mummy!
6. Rhinestone Spider Pumpkin
How can something be so spooky and yet so pretty at the same time?! This rhinestone spiderweb is a super unique way to get your pumpkins to stand out!
7. 3D Painted Pumpkins
Create an awesome 3D painted effect by using some dimensional fabric paint to decorate your pumpkins with awesome designs! They’ll be so cute, you’ll want to keep them out all year long. But they will go bad, so you probably shouldn’t.
8. Kittens In A Basket
This one is my FAVE. Look how cute those tiny pumpkins look with little cat ears! They are so adorable and so easy to make.
9. Color Block Pumpkins
If you want more ~adult~ looking pumpkins, try painting half of one in a unique color for a different look. You can even cover one in giant rubber bands and spray paint for an abstract design!
10. Chalkboard Pumpkin
I’m honestly a little upset that I didn’t think of this one. Cover a pumpkin in chalkboard paint and you can change the face as often as you’d like! It’s so simple but such a great idea.
11. Metallic Line Pumpkins
This will probably take you less than 10 minutes to finish. All you need is a metallic marker to draw these little lines on your pumpkin and you’ll have a classy decoration in minutes!
12. Doughnut Pumpkin
These tiny doughnut pumpkins look so cute and almost good enough to eat, though I would highly recommend that you just keep them as decoration and don’t actually eat them.
13. Leaf Pumpkins
Glue some leaves onto the top of a white (or orange!) pumpkin for a super autumnal pumpkin decoration.
14. Confetti Pumpkins
Add some confetti to your pumpkins for a more festive Halloween decoration!
