I hate to break it to you, but the leaves are dying. Sure, they’re all pretty and orange right now and it looks great in photos for your ~fall aesthetic,~ but that’s because they’re dead. Stop crying, it’s fine, they’re supposed to do that. Fall is the time for cold air and colorful leaves that fall off the trees. Luckily for you, that means you can make amazing fall decor and DIY projects with all of those leaf piles that get blown around your yard. Even better is the fact that they are 100 percent free. Thanks, mother nature! We owe you one.
But now that you’ve gathered your pile of red orange and yellow (dead) leaves, what do you do with them? Answer: ANYTHING. Well, not really anything, but there are so many creative ways to use some leaves as awesome decor for your bedroom or dorm room. Small disclaimer: leaf projects are super cute and fun, but they also are nature, which means they might have some bugs on them. Please be careful when picking leaves to bring into your house, or go the safe route and buy some craft leaves! Now, lets get to it.
1.Decorate your pumpkins with leaves for a colorful addition to your front porch.
An easy and cute way to make your pumpkin “not like other pumpkins.” All of the other pumpkins will be jealous.
2. Glam your leaves with glitter for some cute garland.
When in doubt, put glitter on it. That’s a saying, right? Add some glitter onto leaves and hang them for a cute hanging decoration.
3. Or paint them for a different look!
Who says your leaves have to be orange or yellow? Paint them a cool color like purple or blue and hang them for an awesome wall decoration.
4. Make skeleton leaves.
Did you know you can take the actual “leaf” part of the leaf off and just have a skeleton leaf? Follow this tutorial to see how to make these cute and delicate looking decorations.
5. Or make super easy garland.
This one is a little bit of a no-brainer, but since it’s so pretty and easy I had to put it on the list! Just hang your leaves on a string for a cute fall vibe. You can also add LED lights behind them for a super cozy look.
6. Cover a mason jar with leaves for a pretty candle holder.
For a cool yellow glow, glue some leaves onto a mason jar and add some tea lights inside for an awesome fall candle.
7. Make a leaf bowl.
You might have to use fake leaves for this one, as real leaves might be a little too fragile. Either way, you’re left with an awesome autumn-themed bowl, which is perfect to stash your candy on Halloween!
8. Or DIY a leaf crown.
Flower crowns are sooo last summer, right guys? Impress all your friends with an adorable DIY leaf crown!
9. Print leaves on a pillow.
Okay, how awesome does this look? All you need to do is cover a leaf with black paint and stamp it on. You can do it to pillow, shirts, bags…you name it!
10. Color block a strand of leaves.
For a more ~modern~ room decor, color block some leaves into multiple colors and hang them on string!
11. Or paint with water color over the leaves.
For an amazing print, tape down some leaves and then water color over them for an awesome silhouette effect!
12. Add leaves to book pages for a cute banner.
Have an old book you’ve been meaning to get rid of? Don’t! Cut out the pages into banners and tape leaves on them for a unique hanging decoration.
