If you’re still thinking about what you should wear for Halloween this year, join the club–by my estimation, most people still don’t really know what their plan is when it comes to their costume plan this year. And that’s fine! You’ve got time. In fact, with all of the costume options you have to work with–book-based costumes, costumes that use a t-shirt, group movie costumes–it’s understandable if you’re feeling overwhelmed, costume-wise. And, if that is the case for you, I have a suggestion for you: A nerdy costume.

What, you may be asking, the heck even is that? Well, that’s just the point! The best part about wearing a “nerdy” costume is that the word is broad enough to apply to so many things–basically, if you love something that is somewhat related to popular culture, has a few Tumblr accounts dedicated to it, and feel like you know about it to write a fanfic about it (or at least follow along with one that has been written on the subject), it’s pretty nerdy. Does that mean it can be a costume that references Star Wars? Sure! Harry Potter? Definitely! A costume that looks like an avatar from Kim Kardashian’s smartphone game, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, specifically designed to make gamer nerd-bros angry? Yes it is, girl! Follow your passion!

But, just to make sure this post doesn’t contain, like, a thousand different costumes, I’m going to limit it to things that seem like they’d fit in on a panel at Comic Con. Which Comic Con, you may ask? Doesn’t matter! Any Comic Con. So, check out these perfectly nerdy costumes that you should rock this year if, by any definition of the term, you’d consider yourself a “nerd:”

Mario And Princess Peach

If you and bae (or a friend) love playing Mario Kart, you have to try this costume. Plus, if you go as Peach, you'll have the opportunity to wear a princess dress while still feeling adequately nerdy.

Daenerys Targaryen

Nothing nerdier than "Game of Thrones," one of the most popular, hyped-up shows in the world! But, in all seriousness, this Daenerys Targaryen costume is pretty great. All you need is a blue dress, white-blonde wig, and a li'l dragon to perch on your shoulder.

Napoleon Dynamite

If you want to look conventionally nerdy, but still make a classic pop culture reference, this "Napoleon Dynamite" costume is a must. I love it! Bonus if you have a few friends to go as the other characters to accompany you.

Dobby

This Dobby costume is...dare I say...iconic? It's pretty iconic. Anyway, if you have a pillowcase (or want to look like you're wearing one), this is a great "Harry Potter" costume to wear.

Kiki's Delivery Service

Cute! Sling a bag over your shoulder, carry around a broom, and you'll be the spitting image of Kiki from "Kiki's Delivery Service."

Lydia from Beetlejuice

Perhaps you feel like being a little sullen this Halloween. If so, you shld go as Lydia from "Beetlejuice." Just carry around a book and glare at passerby all night.

Fleur Delacour

If you want to be a little more girly, you could wear this (bomb, frankly) Fleur Delacour costume.

Freudian Slip

Ah, wordplay. This costume invokes both the founder of psychoanalysis and a pun. What could be nerdier?

Jurassic Park

Are dinosaurs your passion? What about Jeff Goldblum? Whatever the case may be, you shuld go as these characters from Jurassic Park.

A Nerdy Nerd

Heh. It may be a little on the nose, but it's still pretty great.

Riverdale Gang

If you, like everyone else in the world, became obsessed with "Riverdale" this year, your choice for a Halloween costume is clear--you have to go as Betty. Or Veronica. Or Josie. Or Jughead. It's up to you!

Finn from Adventure Time

I love this feminine twist on the Finn character from "Adventure Time." If you have a lot of blue clothing and some white knee socks, this costume can be yours.

Rick And Morty

Are you a true intellectual? If so, you simply must go as Rick and/or Morty.

Rey

Or, if you want something truly nerdy, you can go as Rey from "Star Wars," the most popular franchise of all time. Whatever! It's a great costume.

Betty And Veronica

Or, if you're more into the classic Archie comic books, you can go as the vintage Betty and Veronica by putting on your best 1950s drag and clip-on bangs.
